HAPPY SPRING

It so exciting to see robins and hummingbirds cause that means spring is really here. It will be a couple weeks before we see leaves on the trees but the mountain snow is melting. This winter has not been bad. The worst was mid April We live about 85 mile from Denver. I sent to a 7 pm Sesame Street Live show with Sherri, Cole & Rylie. On the way down I went thru sun, snow, and heavy rain. Left the show at 8:45 and when I hit the foothills I drove about 30 mph all the way to Kenosha Pass which is about 30 miles from Fairplay. The pass was closed due to weather and accidents. I had to turn around and drive back to Denver to stay with Michelle. Drove thru a blizzard at times to get home the next morning but I drvie a 4 WD tahoe so that helps . That was about the only bad drive this year.
Been busy trying to get ready for summer crowds and tourists. I probably will wait to plant flowers til the first week of June. I end up planting about $300 worth of flowers and since it snowed Sunday, I better hold off.

Spring in NC

Well, the weather has been back and forth here-cold, warm, cold, warm...... We've had rain all this week which has been welcome, except for the more severe weather to the east.

We are leaving for the beach on Saturday. We haven't been in 10 years, especially after I had my melanoma in 2000. I avoid the sun and am extremely pale. That's okay! I plan on wearing lots of sunscreen and only going out late in the day. We go to Kiawah Island just south of Charleston. It's a private island so it is not crowded and definitely won't be crowded now that we are going the first week of May. No offense, but all the Northeners come down in July and August and this makes the beach very crowded. We're planning on going in to Charleston and doing some snooping around downtown again, probably hitting the Aquarium for Colleen, etc... and of course biking and walking around the island.

Colleen came home last Friday. We spent Jim's b-day packing her up and lugging containers to our cars. She made the Dean's list again this semester. She has found a wonderful advisor/mentor and is double majoring in zoology and poultry science and going to minor in genetics. Caryn is coming home tomorrow. She had her last exam Tuesday and spent the rest of this week moving into an apt. for the summer. She's going to be taking classes this summer and will hopefully find a job!
